Have you got your tickets to see Lee Brice at the Cape Cod Melody Tent? If you didn’t make it to Thursday night’s show, you might want to march right over to the Melody Tent Box office and try to score yourself some tickets for tonight (if there are any left)!
Last night Lee Brice returned to the Cape Cod Melody Tent in what we all hope will be an annual event. I will admit I really like seeing shows in small venues where you don’t need a jumbo-tron to enjoy the show. The only video screens last night were on the smartphones zooming in so close you could see the dimples on Lee Brice’s face!
So how was the show? I want you to remember the best house party you have ever been to where everyone is singing along at the top of their lungs to every great song on the radio. Now I want you to imagine the same party with Lee Brice standing on the coffee table in the middle of the room leading each verse! THAT was last night’s show!
The evening started with a chance for Military Members, Veterans and families to meet Lee Brice. He was congenial and thoughtful. He is the type of guy who actually listens to the stories people tell him and is happily willing to sign MOST items for fans (he even signed someone’s steering wheel)! He gave hugs and took pictures and thanked everyone for coming to the show and their support.
Maggie Rose was running late due to travel issues, so songwriter Jon Stone jumped up on stage in the opening slot. Jon Stone is half of the country duo American Young. He played a few songs until Maggie arrived, breathless, but no less ready to entertain. Jon returned to the stage to join Lee Brice for “A Woman Like You” (which Jon wrote and Lee recorded in 2012).
Once Lee Brice took to the stage, the party kicked into high gear. Even the down tempo songs had the entire crowd on their feet singing and swaying and dancing. One stand-out song was “That Don’t Sound Like You”, which I remember him sharing last year when it was still an unfamiliar song and before it was a radio hit. Last night, the crowd sang every word line for line. More fun highlights included a rock-solid version of Queen’s “Fat Bottom Girls” and his summertime concert anthem “Parking Lot Party” (where he pulled out an Eddie Van Halen style electric guitar)!
I won’t give away the entire set-list, but I assure you, if you are going tonight, be ready to sing and dance right up until the 10:30 noise curfew! And don’t forget to take a selfie with the larger than life poster of Lee Brice strategically placed by the entrance to Section “C” — everyone was doing it last night!
