HYANNIS – Barnstable High School was evacuated this afternoon after receiving a bomb threat.

The threat was received around 1:45 p.m. just before dismissal, according to Principal Patrick Clark.

Clark said the threat was written and was date specific.

Barnstable police conducted a search of the facility but did not uncover anything, according to Sargent Kevin Tynan. Police are continuing to investigate.

All afternoon and evening activities on campus were canceled.

Clark said a message would be sent out to all families and staff sometime this evening to let them know if the building has been deemed safe.

He anticipates a normal start time for Tuesday morning.

Barnstable High School was the second school on the Cape to receive a bomb threat Monday as the Mashpee Middle-High School was evacuated in the morning.
