BARNSTABLE – The Town of Barnstable was named as the second healthiest community in the country out of ranking of 189 towns.

The Gallup-Sharecare Well-Being Index asked surveyed individuals if they ate healthy all day the day before taking the survey.

The research also explored the relationship between healthy eating and various chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, heart disease, depression and stress.

It found that those who ate healthy all day had lower disease burden than those who did not.

Barnstable ranked second to Naples, Florida. Last on the list was Lubbock, Texas.

Other factors, such as reaching all of one’s goals, relationship with spouse or closest friend, having a leader in life and regular learning also ranked highly for those who also ate healthy foods.
