Brewster Public Forum to Focus on Managing Coastal Resources

BREWSTER – The Brewster Community Network will host a Managing Coastal Resources forum Thursday.

The organization will review its Coastal Resource Management Plan and focus on three vital aspects of enjoying, using and protecting the town’s coastal environments.

The forum is at Brewster Ladies Library from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Mary O’Neil, from the Brewster Coastal Committee, will present the objectives and priorities of the new CRMP.

Steven Tupper, with the Cape Cod Commission, will discuss a proposed pilot beach shuttle project to increase access to Brewster coastal landings without adding new parking.

The current status of Brewster’s commercial shellfishing activities will be presented by Chris Miller from the town’s Natural Resources Department.

And Chris Powicki, from the Sierra Club’s Cape Cod Group, will discuss proposed state legislation and Brewster-based efforts to ban single-use plastics that kill ocean wildlife and degrade coastal resources.

The forum is free and open to the public. It will also provide time for audience members to ask questions and provide comments.
