HYANNIS – Cape Cod Healthcare is partnering with the Massachusetts Organization for Addiction Recovery to host two upcoming forums on addiction recovery on June 15 and 16.
Individuals in recovery, family members, friends, policymakers, coalitions and community members are invited to attend.
Cheryl Bartlett, Director of the Cape Cod Regional Substance Abuse Prevention and Public Health Initiative, said there’s a reason for the forums.
“We want to celebrate recovery. We want to talk about recovery. We want people to feel comfortable sharing their stories with us in the community,” said Bartlett.
The two forums will be held on June 15 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Federated Church of Hyannis and June 16 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Orleans.
Bartlett explained what she is hoping to get out of the forums.
“More community awareness, more openness, more acceptance that this is a disease, that we need to reach out and help those in our families and communities who are struggling with this,” said Bartlett.
