BARNSTABLE – Children’s Cove will hold an event later this week to engage local and state lawmakers and help them better understand how the organization helps the victims of child sexual abuse.
A legislative open house is planned for March 3 and will give lawmakers an opportunity to tour the facilities at Children’s Cove.
Director Stacy Gallager said the event will serve as an opportunity to provide insight into the services the organization provides.
“Having local legislators understand the services we provide is important in many ways,” said Gallagher. “Unless you’ve gone through it or work in the field, the world of working with child victims and child advocacy is a mystery to many, and the more our legislators know about the epidemic of child sexual abuse, the safer the children on the Cape and Islands are.”
