EASTHAM – The new Eastham Library was formally dedicated this past weekend after opening last November.
The renovated facility doubles the amount of space of the old library, which dates back to the late 1800s.
The ceremony featured several guest speakers, including Cape and Islands State Senator Julian Cyr, State Representative Sarah Peake and former State Senator Dan Wolf.
“This is such a great representation of this community, of the dedication the people in this room have to making us smarter, making us stronger, bringing us together and accomplishing great things,” Wolf said. “This represents a gathering place, a community coming together, in a world where it gets more and more isolated because of the technologies that seem to divide people rather than bring them together.”
The new building has a modern look as it was added on to the original 1897 library which was renovated.
The construction was originally scheduled to be completed in the summer but was delayed due to issues getting hooked up to municipal water.
