Man Arrested After Trying to Breach Security Gate at Joint Base Cape Cod

STATE POLICEBOURNE – State Police are charging a Rhode Island man after they say he tried driving through a security checkpoint at Joint Base Cape Cod early Monday morning.

Trooper Paul Sullivan said the incident happened at 1:40 at the Bourne gate.

Harold Lamotte, 31, of Charlestown, Rhode Island was taken into custody and charged with failure to stop and trespassing after breaching the perimeter.

When he arrived at the Bourne State Police barracks, he allegedly became uncooperative and tried to escape from the police lockup. He was additionally charged with  assault and battery on a police officer and resisting arrest.

He’ll be arraigned on the charges Tuesday in Falmouth District Court and is being held on $25,000 cash bail. State Police said Lamotte is a correctional officer from Rhode Island.
