Massachusetts Gas Prices Up only 4 Cents Despite Attack on Saudi Supply

HYANNIS – The recent attacks on Saudi Arabian oil facilities has resulted in higher gas prices across the U.S., but some of the smaller increases were in the northeast region.

AAA Northeast reports that the price of self-serve, regular unleaded increased by four cents over the past week in Massachusetts to $2.56 per gallon.

That price is 10 cents below the national average and 27 cents lower than at this same time last year.

“The good news is we are seeing downward movement with crude oil prices and stabilization at gas pumps, but Americans can expect some fluctuation through the end of the month,” said Mary Maguire, AAA Northeast Director of Public and Legislative Affairs. “Should Saudi’s crude production be back to full capacity shortly, the price spikes are likely to be temporary.”

According to GasBuddy.com, prices on Cape Cod range from $2.43 to $2.99.
