Ryan’s Launches New Scholarship Program

BARNSTABLE – Ryan Family Amusements has launched a new scholarship program, which will award $10,000 annually to local students.

The Ryan Family Amusement Scholarship will be awarded to graduating high school seniors and current college students who have an interest in pursuing a career in the hospitality industry.

Ten scholarships, each in the amount of $1,000, will be awarded annually in the communities where Ryan’s operates.

Applicants must be residents of those communities, which include Dukes County, Barnstable County, or the towns of Plymouth, Millis or Raynham.

“One of the core tenets of Ryan’s since its formation in 1958 is to give back to the communities we do business in,” said Ryan’s President Rob Nichols.

“I can’t think of a better way to do that than by investing in the education and future of our local students.”

The scholarship program will be administered through The Cape Cod Foundation, a 501c3 public charity. The Foundation’s mission is to build permanent charitable resources for community betterment through informed grantmaking and civic leadership.

“The need for scholarships is high” said Kristin O’Malley, President and CEO of The Cape Cod Foundation.

“Ryan Family Amusements is making a significant commitment to education which will have a very positive impact in the community.  We’re honored to partner with them on this new venture.”

O’Malley said the Foundation currently administers more than 300 individual funds; about 80 are scholarship funds.

Students interested in applying for a scholarship can do so at capecodfoundation.org/portfolio/ryan-family-amusement-scholarship. The application deadline for 2019 awards is April 1.
