State Highway Officials On Cape Tonight to Get Public Comment on Road Projects

SagBridgeWEST BARNSTABLE – An effort by the state to get input from the public on future highway and transportation investments and projects comes to Cape Cod tonight.

Officials will be on hand at Cape Cod Community College beginning at 6:30 PM at the Tilden Arts Center as part of the Capital Conversations Tour.

The meetings are an attempt for residents to provide comments on what is important to them, how the department is doing and what MassDOT can do to serve the community better.

“They definitely want to hear from residents and to see what’s of interest to them to their region, what intersections, what roadways are important to them, so there’s a lot of important conversations,” said Glenn Cannon, technical services director with the Cape Cod Commission.

The Capital Conversations will help guide MassDOT with their five year Capital Investment Plan process.

That process will determine how the department prioritizes their largest investments, covering everything from highway and municipal projects to regional airports and rail and transit.

Representatives from the Highway Division, the MBTA, the Registry of Motor Vehicles and MassDOT’s Aeronautics Divisions will be on hand to gather input, concerns, questions and thoughts.
