BARNSTABLE – With the Barnstable Town Manager’s contract ending this summer, Tom Lynch has put an action plan in place to leave the town in a solid place before he leaves.

Lynch’s official final day is set for June 30th, when he’ll hand the title over to the as yet undecided successor. Lynch said he’s focused on completing two major budgets before their respective deadlines.

“Time goes by very quickly, especially when you’re working on budget season,” he said. “The first major responsibility is to prepare the capital budget and the operating budget.”

Those are due for presentation to town councilors by March 17th and May 5th, respectively.

Additionally, Lynch said the fiscal year permits, new union negotiations and community compact projects are on his agenda.

That’s on top of a few key topics already in motion, including a housing production plan, dog park and shooting range concerns.

“We’ve got a lot of work to do… It’s an ambitious agenda,” Lynch said.
