Red Raider Laxmen Steamroll Visiting Dartmouth Indians

HYANNIS – With Lynchburg-bound senior co-captain Bo Delaney back in action Wednesday afternoon, the Barnstable High boys’ lacrosse team took that as a sign to come alive.

The Red Raider lacrosse men evened their record at 3-3 with a 17-7 thrashing of Dartmouth, thanks in large part to a four-goal performance from sophomore Brener DeSouza and hat tricks from Delaney and fellow senior co-captain Mike McDonough.

Senior co-captain and goalie Nick Passaulgo and Trenton Cameron combined in goal for nine saves to hold the Indians at bay.

Barnstable held an 8-2 lead at halftime and continued to build on that advantage in the second half with another nine scores while Dartmouth could only retaliate with five markers in the second frame.

Dartmouth’s Logan Crane led the Indians with a hat trick while Jacob Raposa netted two. Cole Jacobsen and Will Kuphal netted the other goals for the Indians.

Barnstable High’s Liam Shields and Jonathan Ramos both netted a pair of goals for the hosts, while Reece Hoppensteadt, Jack Pipatti and Evan Mulone each had one goal.

The victory was a key Maritime League victory for the Red & White, much to the satisfaction of head coach Chris Whidden.

“We had fewer turnovers and took care of the ball,” Whidden said. “(We played) good team defense… and understood situations offensively.”

Barnstable hits the road to face Mansfield Friday (April 17) at 4:00 pm.
