UPDATED: Three people struck and injured by vehicle in Falmouth

FALMOUTHUpdate: The names of the pedestrians struck by a vehicle on Rt. 28 in Teaticket Tuesday night have been released:
Danche Lafirova, 22 yrs. old, of East Falmouth remains in critical condition in a Rhode Island Trauma Center.
Damjan Dobrevski, 21 yrs. old, of East Falmouth is at Cape Cod Hospital awaiting release.
Mario Silva, 21 yrs. old, of East Falmouth was treated for minor injuries at Falmouth Hospital and subsequently released.

The cause and circumstances surrounding the crash continues to be investigated by the Falmouth Police Department.

Previous story: Three people were struck by a car in Falmouth sometime after 11 p.m. Tuesday evening.

The accident happened in the area of the Cape Cod Baptist Church at 790 Teaticket Highway (Route 28).

The first responding officers found an unconscious female suffering from serious injuries. She is a 22-year-old from East Falmouth. She was MedFlighted to a Rhode Island trauma center.

A second pedestrian, a 22-year-old male from East Falmouth, suffered serious injuries and was transported to Falmouth Hospital by ambulance. A third pedestrian, a 21-year-old male from East Falmouth, was also struck and sustained minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Falmouth Police Department and the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office.

The initial investigation indicates that a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer was heading easterly on Teaticket Hwy. The three pedestrians were walking easterly on the side of Teaticket Hwy.

The Trailblazer, which was being operated by a 26-year-old man from East Falmouth, struck them as they walked along the side of the road. The operator of the vehicle stopped after the collision and was not injured.

Traffic was detoured around the crash site for about three hours but the road is now completely open.
