DENNIS – At an annual ceremony and dinner held on April 26, 2016, Dennis Police Chief Peter DiMatteo congratulated the members of the Dennis Police “Volunteers in Policing” (VIP’s) for their dedicated volunteer work during calendar year 2016.
The VIPS, now numbering 45, staff an information window in the lobby of the Police Station, assist officers with a number of community programs/special projects and make daily phone calls to residents to assure their well- being.
He said the Volunteers in Policing contribute greatly to the level of service provided to the public by the department and their efforts are greatly appreciated.
Dennis PD VIP Coordinator Pat McGrail was honored as the “Volunteer of the Year”.
As a group the VIP’s logged the following volunteer hours in 2016:
Greeters: 1,422 Hours
Reassurance Callers: 510 Hours
Special Projects: 395 Hours
Total for 2016 2,327 HOURS
