Large power outage reported on Upper Cape

BOURNE
– A large power outage reportedly affected a large area of Bourne and parts of Sandwich. An Eversource spokesperson tells the “capecod.com Newscenter” the cause of the outage which began around 10:30 AM was a faulty cable at Joint Base Cape Cod.

Local fire departments were kept busy responding to multiple fire alarms triggered by the outage, while police dealt with heavy traffic negotiating intersections without working traffic lights.

Eversource’s outage map (above) showed 7,500 customers without power, 6,000 in Bourne, 1,500 in Sandwich and 150 in Falmouth. Power was fully restored shortly after 11 AM.
