MASHPEE – Mashpee Firefighters were called to 5 Truro Road about 10:40 PM Monday after a neighbor reported smoke coming from the house. Crews arrived to find a kitchen fire that had been knocked down. Firefighters ventilated heavy smoke and checked to make sure the fire hadn’t extended any further. One occupant was evaluated at the scene. The house was left temporarily uninhabitable and the Red Cross was providing shelter for the displaced resident. Cotuit Firefighters assisted at the scene.
