Missing person rescued from Little Pond in Falmouth

FALMOUTH
– Falmouth Police report that a 45-year-old male with learning disabilities was rescued by Falmouth Police from Little Pond Monday afternoon. Police had received a report of a missing person with learning disabilities in the area of the Falmouth Heights Ballfield, followed by a request to check the welfare of a person in the water nearby at Grand Avenue and Menauhant Road.

Falmouth Police Sergeant Michael Rogers arrived at Little Pond shortly thereafter and saw a male standing waist deep in water. The male was unresponsive and appeared unsteady, as if he was going to fall into the water. Sgt. Rogers immediately entered the water and determined that the male was stuck in the mud and showing signs of hypothermia.

At this point, the male collapsed and Sgt. Rogers held him above the water. A nearby onlooker volunteered to help and began to dig the mud away from the male’s feet until he was freed. Falmouth Fire & Rescue arrived, rendered aid, and then transported the male victim to the Falmouth Hospital for further treatment.
