Traffic signal work could cause delays today in Hyannis

HYANNIS – The Barnstable Department of Public Works will be performing repairs to the traffic signal system at the intersection of Independence Drive and Attucks Lane today.

Improvements include: replacement of span wire; installation of new hurricane disconnects; new tether hardware and tether attachments; and removal and re-installation of existing traffic signals.

Work is expected to be completed by the end of the day.

The intersection will be without the use of traffic signals for the duration of construction.  At times, vehicular traffic will be directed by Barnstable Police Officers.

Operations will start promptly at 9 AM and run until 3 PM, after which time traffic will be opened back onto all lanes of these roadways.

Traffic during construction operations will be delayed and motorists are advised to seek alternate routes to avoid the construction work.
