Update: Two Harwich officers injured Sunday afternoon


HARWICH
– At approximately 5:30 PM on Sunday, Harwich officers responded to a North Harwich residence to conduct a well- being check. While attempting to gain entry into the house, one officer suffered an arm injury. After access was gained into the house, an aggressive dog attacked the second officer and bit him in the legs. A Taser was deployed on the dog which stunned it and allowed the officers to exit the house without further injury. The dog was eventually secured with the assistance of Dennis police K-9 Officer Henry Jessop.

Once safe entry could be made into the house, the subject of the well-being check was located and transported to Cape Cod Hospital by the Harwich Fire Department.

Both Harwich officers were transported to Cape Cod Hospital by the Dennis Fire Department where they were treated and released. Both officers are expected to make a full recovery.
