WAREHAM – Wareham Police School Resource Officer Karl Baptiste was recently awarded the “Exceptional Service Award” by the Massachusetts Juvenile Police Officer’s Association at the 12th Annual New England School Safety Conference held in Norwood, MA on April 4, 2017.

The award is presented annually to a Massachusetts School Resource Officer who is nominated by his peers and often school officials who believe the service of the SRO was exceptional and met a standard of excellence with regard to school/youth/police relationships, resulting in increased school safety, student well-being, and a general climate of mutual support between the schools and the Wareham Police Department.

“Karl’s dedication to the position of SRO and his ability to positively interact with the youth of our community is second to none, and the relationship between the Wareham School System and the Wareham Police Department is very strong, largely due to the efforts and actions of Officer Karl Baptiste. Wareham should feel very proud that one of our officers received this award,” said Police Chief Kevin Walsh.
