Woman faces 10th shoplifting charge after arrest in Wareham

WAREHAM –  A Westfield woman is facing a 10th shoplifting charge following her arrest at the Family Dollar Store in the Wareham Plaza.

Officers responded to the location Wednesday night at 8:30 for reports of a female shoplifter who left the store and was possibly still in the area after allegedly stealing approximately $70 worth of merchandise, which she reportedly stuffed into a backpack.

Within a short period of time, officers located Jayne Decoste, 55, in the plaza, and the stolen items were recovered from her backpack.

In addition to the charge of shoplifting from Family Dollar, Decoste was also placed under arrest for 9 outstanding warrants issued by various courts for unrelated past shoplifting incidents.

Warrants had been issued by Massachusetts district courts in Holyoke, Brookline, Springfield, Westfield, Quincy, and Hingham.

Decoste is scheduled to be arraigned on the charge of shoplifting, 10th subsequent offense, in Wareham District Court.
