Yarmouth man facing felony charges after alleged road rage incident in Sandwich

SANDWICH
– A 28-year-old Yarmouth man has been arrested and is facing several felony charges after an alleged road rage incident in Sandwich.

On Thursday at approximately 7:15 AM Sandwich Police received a call regarding a hit and run that occurred on Boardley Road in South Sandwich. When officers arrived, it was learned from the female operator that she had been traveling on South Sandwich Road when a male party in a Red Honda Fit was trying to pass her on a double yellow line. The operator of the vehicle was honking his horn and attempting to pass, but could not because of oncoming traffic. The victim told police investigators that the male operator then began to pass her, at which point he rammed this side of her vehicle 3 times. She also told officers she had her 12-year-old in her car at the time of the incident.

Police sent out a county wide broadcast to local police agencies to be on the lookout for the suspect vehicle. After an investigation police were able to identify the driver of the Honda Fit as Jacob Daus, 28, of Yarmouth.

Daus was contacted and agreed to meet investigators at the Sandwich Police Department. Daus arrived 3 hours later and was placed under arrest. Daus is being charged with operating to endanger, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (motor vehicle)(2 counts), leaving the scene of property damage and marked lanes violation. Daus was transported to Barnstable District Court for Arraignment.
