Yarmouth Police PAC and K9 Guage nab alleged heroin dealer from Providence

YARMOUTH – Yarmouth Police report that on Monday at 3:38 PM, Proactive Anti-Crime Unit (PAC) Officer Nick Ambrosini and his Drug Detection Dog K9 Gauge were on patrol and observed a green 2000 Lincoln sedan with Rhode Island plates traveling on Route 28 in West Yarmouth with an expired status since 2015.

The vehicle stopped in the parking lot of a business and PAC Officer Ambrosini encountered the driver, later identified as Vanessa Lopes and the passenger, identified as Daniel S. Shepard.

Patrol Officer Richard Fichter arrived as backup and it was determined that the driver’s license was revoked.

During a check of the Shepard, Officers found to him to be in possession of a small amount of brown rock like substance in a knotted clear sandwich baggie which was identified as heroin.

Shepard was placed under arrest for possession of a class A substance. A check of his pockets located 2 cell phones, a quantity of clear sandwich bags, a small razor blade dispenser with razor blades inside, and $600.00 in cash, all in small bills.

Lopes was issued a criminal citation for operating with a revoked driver’s license and unregistered motor vehicle.

Shepard arrested and charged with possession of a Class A substance (heroin). He was transported to Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters for booking and was scheduled for arraignment in the Barnstable District Court Tuesday.
