As I write this, bundled up and cozy inside, it looks perfectly lovely outside the window. It’s only on setting foot outside that the reality of the biting cold hits me. But I have found the perfect solution—lots of flowers scattered around the house. If you try really hard, you can almost imagine it is actually spring-y. Well, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

One thing that keeps me warm is researching all the things we are going to get to do this week. It may not be quite the same as a warm walk outside, but it is going to have to do for the next couple of weeks.

Easter Egg Hunt

Nothing signals spring more than Easter. And it’s a great time for family, kids and fun. One of the most fun things for kids are Easter egg hunts, and there’s going to be one, for children ages 2 to 10, at the Mashpee Commons Green, across from the library on Saturday, April 4 at 1 p.m. It’s going to be great, so mark your calendar and bring all the kids!

Theater

“Around the World in 80 Days” is playing for its last weekend at Wellfleet Harbor Actor’s Theater. If you haven’t made it there yet, make sure to do so this weekend. It’s a play full of action, fun and laughter.  For tickets go to what.org.

There are a few things happening at Cotuit Center for the Arts this weekend. The Black Box theater at Cotuit Center for the Arts has “Oleanna,” a very intense David Mamet play all about, according to the director, how we try and often fail to communicate with each other. Mamet is a brilliant writer whose plays stir up a lot of emotion, and could make for a thought provoking night out. For tickets go to artsonthecape.org.

Dr. Waldo Fielding and Pam McArdle will be appearing in “Love Letters” by A. R. Gurney on Sunday, March 29, at 2 PM. The event is a benefit for the arts center, and will be a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

The Barnstable Comedy Club is staging the light and fun, “The Housekeeper,” written by James Prideaux, and stars Dan Tritle and Jody Carman, respectively as the uppity Manley Carstairs and Annie Dankworth, the wacky bag lady he hires as his housekeeper. For tickets and times go to barnstablecomedyclub.org.

Music

Also at Cotuit Center for the Arts, is “Breathe: A Tribute to Pink Floyd.” If you’re a fan you’re going to want to go see 57 Heavy perform all your favorite songs. The show starts at 6:30, on Saturday, March 28. Cotuit Center for the Arts is located at 4404 Falmouth Road, Cotuit. Tickets are available at artsonthecape.org.

If you’ve never been to the Cape Cod Museum of Art off Route 6A in Dennis, you’ve truly missed a wonderful venue. Not only do they have art exhibits, they have music as well. This coming weekend, on March 28 and 29 they have two wonderful concerts.

First, on Saturday, is Jenifer Jackson, a singer/songwriter who now resides in Austin, will be playing her original compositions along with Sonny Barbato. They will be playing lots of songs from her latest album, “Texas Sunrise.” The concert is at 4 p.m. Tickets ae $15.

And then on Sunday, it’s the Bert Jackson Quartet playing an eclectic blend of jazz standards, blues and some original tunes as well. The band is made up of all local musicians who are well known and loved on the Cape. The show is at 2:30 p.m. and tickets are $15.
