2017 Memorial Day Events on Cape Cod

Memorial Day is a day to remember and pay respects to those who lost their lives fighting for our country. We owe them a great deal of respect and thanks for helping preserve the freedoms that we enjoy today.

Let us not lose the true meaning of Memorial Day.

Chatham Memorial Day Ceremony
10:00AM – 11:15 AM
World War I Memorial, Main Street; Nickerson Park; Oyster Pond; Seaview and Main Street; and Veterans Circle

The Town of Chatham Memorial Day Ceremony will be held on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29, 2017 and will begin at 10:00.

Participants will assemble at Veterans Field Road parking lot beginning at 9:30 AM. This will include members of the Chatham VFW and American Legion, Veterans, the Ladies and Men’s Auxiliary to the Chatham VFW, the Chatham Coast Guard Color Guard, the Coast Guard Auxiliary, Clergy, Town employees and Selectmen, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Brownies.

Orleans Memorial Day Ceremony
Where: Town Cove, then marching to the Memorial Stones at Academy Place
When: Beginning at 10:00 am, Monday, May 29th

Memorial day service for the Navy, Coast Guard. Wreath laying in the Cove.

Following the brief service at the water, all Honor Guard units and participants will march up to the Memorial Stones, at the Methodist Church / Academy Place for a continuation of the service for the Army, Marine Corps and Air Force.

Three speakers, as well as the Nauset Regional Middle School Chorus and Fife and Drums, will perform.

Reverend Sally Norris, the Orleans Police Department’s Chaplain will have the opening prayer and benediction.

Following the entire service, the Methodist Church will open their doors at Freedom Hall with light refreshments, provided by their parishioners, and the Orleans Fire Department will provide hot dogs while the street remains closed.

Sandwich American Legion Memorial Day Parade
Monday at 10 a.m. steps off from the Henry T. Wing School

Falmouth Memorial Day Ceremony
For any Veterans who wish to walk in the procession from the Falmouth Village Green, procession steps off at 9:45 and proceeds to Memorial Lane in front of Falmouth Public Library (Main St.) If you have any questions, please call the office at 508-495-7453, prior to the day of the ceremony.

Mashpee Memorial Day Ceremony
The Memorial Day Ceremony will be held on Monday, May 29, 2017 from 10:00 – 11:00 am in the Veteran’s Garden, located in the Mashpee Community Park, 13 Great Neck Road North. (immediately across the street from Mashpee Town Hall). Join us as we honor and pay tribute to our fallen service men and women. Music will be provided by Mashpee High School Music Department. Featured speakers include; Hon. Dave Viera, Massachusetts State Representative; Rodney C. Collins, Town Manager; and Thomas O’Hara, Chair, Mashpee Board of Selectmen.
