Annual Ceremony to Honor Vietnam Veterans

Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.

HYANNIS – Local Vietnam Veterans and their family members will be honored today with a ceremony in Hyannis to mark the anniversary of the departure of the final U.S. troops from Vietnam.

The annual Vietnam Veterans Day Ceremony is sponsored by the Department of Veteran Affairs Cape Cod Vet Center and begins at 1:30 p.m. at the Barnstable Senior Center. The ceremony is free and open to the public and veterans of all eras are encouraged to attend.

The event serves as an opportunity for veterans and Gold Star families to share their thoughts and be recognized for their sacrifices.

March 29 was proclaimed Vietnam Veterans Day by former President Barack Obama in 2012.
