BARNSTABLE – Barnstable Town Manager Tom Lynch returned last week from a trip to the town’s twin city, Barnstaple, England.
The trip was in conjunction with the 375th Anniversary of Barnstable.
Lynch was a special guest of the town from September 7 to September 9.
He joined Barnstaple Mayor Val Elkins and Deputy Mayor Julie Hunt for dinner and high tea on the river Taw.
Lynch also received a guided tour of the town.
“They really put out the welcome mat for us,” Lynch said. “We had a nice exchange of gifts. It was really a trip full of friendship and fellowship.”
Lynch also noticed a lot of similarities between Barnstable and Barnstaple.
“They had a very good bike-way system,” Lynch said. “They were encouraging walkers.”
They also have a similar situation with the Cape in keeping young adults local.
