ORLEANS – Experienced and beginner paddlers, power-boaters and sailors are welcomed to take part in a six-week “boating skills and seamanship” course to be offered by the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary later this month.
The course will begin on January 31st and will take place on consecutive Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 at the Orleans Fire Station, 58 Eldridge Parkway.
Coast Guard trained instructors will teach interactive classes on boating safety, boat selection, boating equipment, trailering, boat handling, basic navigation, rules of the nautical road, knots, weather, and boat radio systems.
Since the course is recognized by both the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators and the U.S. Coast Guard, many insurance companies offer discounts to students who successfully complete it.
Class size is limited and pre-registration is required. The total cost of the course is $50.
