HYANNIS – Downtown Hyannis business owners and leaders celebrated the past year at an annual event this week, and officials were looking ahead on how to keep Main Street successful.
Officials say they were happy with the results of this summer season, and are turning their sights on bringing more economic potential to downtown Hyannis during the spring and fall. Weddings might be the way to accomplish that goal.
“We want, in the future, to make the Main Street Hyannis and downtown waterfront area a destination for weddings. That’s something that will improve our shoulder seasons,” said Main Street Business Improvement District Executive Director Elizabeth Wurfbain, “When there’s a wedding in town you really see it with the hotels and the restaurants and people shopping,”
Wurfbain says business has been strong on Main Street this fall, particularly on the weekends.
