Cape Cod Museum of Natural History Holding KidSummer 2017 Program

BREWSTER – Registration for The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History’s KidSummer 2017 is open.

KidSummer is Cape Cod’s Nature Place summer program instilling a sense of wonder and discovery to last a lifetime.

There are a range of programs for those between the ages of 3 to 15, encouraging learning and appreciation of the environment through age-appropriate, STEAM based curriculum and indoor/outdoor activities led by educators/naturalists.

The KidSummer nature program is sponsored by the International Fund for Animal Welfare.

The programs include “First Encounters” for those aged 3 and 4, “Nature Sleuths” for 5 and 6 year olds, “Terra Nova” for 7-9 year olds, “Extreme Science” for those aged 10 to 12, “Junior Naturalist” for 13-15 year olds, “Birding 101” for those aged 7-12 and “KidSummer Art” for 7-12 year olds.

Museum officials say that the programs focus on the important concepts of relationships in nature in age-appropriate ways, emphasizing biology, physiology and ecology.

They add that children will come away with an understanding of the relationships among plants, insects, birds and mammals.

The Museum campus is surrounded by an outdoor laboratory and 400 acres of conservation land on Cape Cod Bay, that encompasses upland woods, beech forest, salt marsh and barrier dunes.

The programs combine outdoor exploration, STEAM based classroom projects and experiments.
