Cape Cod Chamber CEO Wendy Northcross said she bases her prognosis on discretionary spending habits and consumer confidence numbers. Those numbers have proven in the past to be good indicators of a strong season, she said.
Northcross also pointed to 2013 figures for the number of US adults traveling for leisure. Those numbers jumped four percentage points from the previous year and she called that a big turnaround.
“Cape Cod enjoys a strong domestic and international brand as a vacation destination and with a population base nearby of more than 49 million, we have a large pool of potential domestic visitors from which to draw,” Northcross said.
She also pointed to Chamber member reports about advance bookings.
