DENNIS – The Dennis Town Hall has moved to a new location.
The town moved their operations on Thursday from their old facility at 485 Main Street to their new consolidated Town Hall at the corner of Rt. 134 and Bob Crowell Road.
Construction on the new facility took over a year to finish.
Elizabeth Sullivan, Assistant Town Administrator for the Town of Dennis said it was time for a new building.
“It’s an older building, so the space was tighter and things were dated over there, so I think there was an eagerness to get over to the new space and be more cohesive as a town,” said Sullivan.
The old Town Hall building will be demolished to make room for more room in the cemetery, but the parking lot and the rail trail extension will stay in place.
Sullivan said there are many benefits to having most of the town’s departments under one roof.
“Servicing the public better, not having to re-direct folks from one building to get one thing done, only to go to another location to get some piece of information like permitting,” said Sullivan.
