State police said Shane Reilly, 36, of Halifax was struck and killed while riding his motorcycle.
The crash happened at around 1:30 a.m. when state troopers from the Norwell barracks responded to a report of a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle laying on Route 44 West, west of Route 80 in Carver. The victim was found not far from the motorcycle.
The state police collision analysis and reconstruction section determined that Reilly had been struck by a vehicle that had left the scene.
At 4 p.m. Sunday, Andrew Best, 26, of Carver turned himself in to Carver police, saying he was the driver involved in the crash. He was placed in custody and was being held without bail pending his arraignment.
He faces motor vehicle homicide and leaving the scene of an accident charges. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Wareham District Court today.
