Nantucket Man Sentenced for 2013 Kidnapping and Rape

NANTUCKET – A Nantucket man has been sentenced to 15-18 years in state prison for kidnapping and raping a woman on the island in 2013.

Jorge Adames-Garcia was convicted of forcing the victim into his car and sexually assaulting her, before leaving her on the side of the road. After a three-day trial in May, a Nantucket jury found Adames-Garcia guilty of kidnapping and two counts of aggravated rape.

“The sentence was appropriate in light of the facts found by the jury,” said Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe. “This was a horrendous ordeal for this victim to have endured and I commend her courage for coming forward.”

The case was investigated by the Nantucket Police Department and was prosecuted by Cape and Islands Assistant District Attorney Daniel Higgins.
