Nantucket Voters to Decide on Several Contested Races in Today’s Election

NANTUCKET – Nantucket voters have several decisions to make at today’s annual election.

Six people are running for two available seats on the Board of Selectmen. They include Rita Higgins, Jason Bridges, Linda Williams, Richard Ray, Stephen Maury and Clifford Williams.

Selectmen Bob DeCosta and Rich Atherton decided not to run for re-election.

In the race for two school committee seats, incumbents Tim Lepore and Zona Butler face a challenge from Randy Ringer.

Planning Board incumbent Nat Lowell is being challenged for his seat by Frederick McClure.  

For Land Bank Commisssion, Mark Beale and Kristina Jelleme are running for one seat.

The race for one seat on the Historic District Commission features a race between Aileen Barth, Vallorie Oliver and incumbent Ray Rohl.

Nantucket voters will also decide on two ballot questions. Polls close at 8 p.m.
