YARMOUTHPORT – A 19-year-old Yarmouthport woman was killed in a multi-vehicle accident in West Springfield Thursday.
State Police say that Althea Fortier was traveling eastbound on Route 90 with her 1999 Chevrolet Suburban around 12:36 p.m. when it struck a 2007 M2 box truck driven by 39-year-old Christopher Perry of Chicopee.
The Suburban veered toward the median barrier after striking the truck and went over the barrier into the oncoming westbound traffic.
The Suburban was struck in the westbound high speed lane by a tractor-trailer truck operated by 23-year-old Joshua Lawrence of Peru, Maine.
Troopers say that Fortier was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lawrence was transported by ambulance to Noble Hospital in Westfield with minor injuries.
Perry was not injured in the crash.
State Police say that the cause of the crash remains under investigation and no charges have been filed.
