Massachusetts Housing Market Shows Signs of Strength

AFFORDABLE HOUSINGBOSTON (AP) — Not even record-setting snowfall could slow the Massachusetts housing market.

Two organizations that track the market reported Tuesday that sales of single-family homes in Massachusetts remained essentially flat in March compared to the same month a year ago.

The Boston-based Warren Group reported an uptick of about 1 percent year over year, while the Massachusetts Association of Realtors said sales of homes were down about one-quarter of 1 percent in March.

Median prices were also up slightly, about 2 percent according to the Realtors, and less than 1 percent according to The Warren Group. The organizations use slightly different numbers in their calculations.

Warren Group CEO Timothy Warren Jr. says homes that sold in March were shopped and signed at the height of winter in January and February.
