WEST YARMOUTH – The intersection at Higgins Crowell Road and Buck Island Road was closed for about an hour and a half after a major accident Wednesday.
Lt. Kevin Huck of the Yarmouth Fire Department said the crash involved three smaller vehicles which sent one into a support pole, snapping it just after 4 p.m.
Fire crews transported two of the drivers to Cape Cod Hospital with injuries described as non life-threatening.
The third driver was treated for minor injuries at the scene and refused to be taken to the hospital.
The road was reopened around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Yarmouth Police Department.
Interviewed Wednesday evening, Huck said that the pole had not been replaced yet, but because it is a support pole with no live power lines, he does not expect the pole to be replaced until Thursday.
