ORLEANS: Orleans parade-July 4th, at 10:00 am. Best place to watch, anywhere on Rt. 6A Orleans, Main St or Rt 28 past the Nauset Regional Middle School. Lots of big parking lots to chose from. Parade will go from Eldredge parkway, to Rt 6a eastbound, right onto Main at the Mobil station. Along Main st to Rt 28, headed south toward Chatham. Pas the middle school,then onto Daley terrace and back to the Middle school rear lot crossing Eldredge.

Please be patent with traffic, there is an unbelievable number of visitors. Follow detour signs, and remember, we want everyone to have a safe and fun 4th!

PROVINCETOWN: 4th of July PARADE Tuesday July 4th Parade will start at 11am SHARP!!

Be sure to congratulate and wave to the 2017 Provincetown Seniors of the Year, Beata Cook and Marian Goveia, in the parade!

Parade will run the length of Commercial Street from the Harbor Hotel to Franklin Street.

Please note there will be no parking along the designated parade route on Commercial Street from Bradford Street to Franklin Street tomorrow from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Vehicles illegally parked along the posted parade route will be ticketed and towed at owners expense. Please note the signs and restrictions for this event.

FIREWORKS The annual fireworks display will be held on July 4th Dusk (The display will start at approximately 9:15 p.m.)
Over Provincetown Harbor!!

BARNSTABLE (All villages): FIREWORKS DISPLAY: TUESDAY, July 4, 2017 (Rain date is Saturday, September 2, 2017.)
Shot off of a barge in Lewis Bay at dusk (approximate time 9:00 PM) by Atlas Fireworks of New Hampshire Viewing: The main viewing locations for this year’s fireworks will be Aselton Park, Bismore Park, and Veteran’s Park Beach. Kalmus Beach will be available for handicapped parking only. Fireworks Parking (Barnstable): A Parking Ban will be in effect South of South Street (Ocean Street, Old Colony Boulevard, Gosnold Street and all streets running off of Gosnold Street) from 5:00 PM to midnight to allow for pedestrian access. Parking will be available in the North Street parking lots and Town Hall parking lot. Tow Zones Strictly Enforced. Carpooling suggested. Tune into 95.1 WXTK for the pre-fireworks show also the official soundtrack to the fireworks during the display. NO VENDORS ALLOWED. PARADES AND OTHER DAYTIME EVENTS: TUESDAY, JULY 4, 2017
Barnstable/West Barnstable Parade in Barnstable Village – Parade starting at 9:00 AM
Presented by the Barnstable Village Civic Association and the West Barnstable Civic Association. The Barnstable-West Barnstable July 4th Parade and Celebration will commence at 9:00 AM at the County Complex on Railroad Avenue with an 8:30 AM gathering time; proceed down Main Street (Route 6A); left onto Mill Way and continue to the Village Hollow where it will end for various activities.

Centerville – Parade starting at 10:00 AM
Presented by the Bay Lane PTA at Centerville Elementary School and Centerville Civic Association. The parade will form on the grounds of Centerville Elementary School and proceed up Bay Lane, take a right onto Bumps River Road; left onto Park Avenue; right onto Main Street; and continue to the Centerville Recreation Building where it will end.

Cotuit – Parade starting at 11:00 AM
Presented by the Cotuit Civic Association. The parade will begin at the Cotuit Post Office, proceed down School Street to Main Street; left on Main Street to the rear entrance of the Cotuit Elementary School, where it will end.

Hyannisport –Parade starting at 11:00 AM
Presented by the West Beach Club. The parade will begin at the Hyannisport Post Office on Longwood Avenue; left on to Washington Avenue; right onto Lafayette Avenue; left onto Winchester Avenue; left onto Scudder Avenue; and continue onto Dale Avenue to the West Beach Club, where it will end. A Road Race starting at 9:00 AM at Hyannisport Post Office precedes the parade.

Osterville – Parade starting at 11:30 AM
Presented by the Wianno Club (Junior Activity). The parade route will begin on Washington Avenue, take a right on Webster Street; turn right onto Sea View Avenue; turn right onto Warren Street, and right onto Washington Avenue where the parade will end.

Hyannis Harbor Boat Parade starting around 2:00 PM
Hyannis Marina invites all to a July 4th boat parade. The best viewing is along Ocean Street at Hyannis Harbor around 2:00 PM. If you are a boater and want to participate, the boats assemble off of Hyannis Yacht Club at 2:00 PM and then head to the inner harbor to show off their red, white and blue! Decorate your Bike, Carriage or Wagon Contest from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Sponsored by the Greater Hyannis Civic Association. All children ages up to 12 are encouraged to participate in the Decorate Your Bike, Carriage or Wagon Contest as part of the Town of Barnstable 4th of July Parade. Registration will be at 3pm on the Village Green by the bandstand. All participants will receive a ribbon and a prize. The group will then join the parade at 3:15 for a ride down Main Street. Bike riders must wear a helmet. Parents are also welcome to march in the parade with their children. Coordinator of the event is Deb Krau, [email protected], 508-778-1756.

Hyannis – Parade starting at 4:00 PM
Presented by Town of Barnstable 4th of July Parade Committee. Hyannis Main Street – “Independence Day the Barnstable Way” is this year’s theme for the 19th Annual Hyannis 4th of July Parade organized by Meaghan Kenney, and it surely will be that, as one of Cape Cod’s largest parades will once again offer an afternoon of family-friendly entertainment for residents and visitors alike. Parade Route: from the intersection of Ocean Street and Main Street to the intersection of Sea Street and Main Street, . This year’s parade will be led by retired Hyannis Fire Chief Harold Brunelle as Grand Marshal. Before the parade, the Roaming Railroad will be ready to give rides to children and after the parade the float entrants will be judged and winners will be awarded ribbons on the Hyannis Village Green. The Town of Barnstable Band will perform patriotic songs at the Tow Bandstand on the Hyannis Village Green until 6:30 PM. Then the festivities move to Aselton Park where Funktapuss will play before the fireworks, which begin at dusk. The fireworks are visible from beaches and locations facing Nantucket Sound. NO VENDORS ALLOWED. Donations can be sent to: TOB Fourth of July Parade, c/o Town of Barnstable, 367 Main Street, Hyannis, MA 02601. Parade Parking: Parking Ban from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Main Street, Old Colony Road, and South Street, Hyannis will be closed to motor vehicle traffic for the parade. Also all of Main Street; Old Colony Road and Ocean Street from South Street to Main Street will be closed to motor vehicle traffic beginning at 2:00 PM.

CHATHAM: NO PARKING AND TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS – ANNUAL 4TH OF JULY PARADE

Starting at 02:30 a.m. on July 4, 2017, “NO PARKING” restrictions will go into effect. The area affected is the Main Street Downtown Business District from the Rotary/Old Harbor Road to the intersection Main Street and Shore Road. There will be NO PARKING-TOW AWAY ZONE restrictions on the Town Hall side of Main Street. No chairs will be allowed on Main Street until AFTER 02:30 a.m.

There will also be NO PARKING-TOW AWAY ZONE restrictions on Crowell Road south of Tip Cart Drive to Main Street.

Parade route parking violations will be strictly enforced.

Beginning at 07:30 a.m. there will be a one-way (southbound) traffic pattern on Shore Road, from Old Harbor Road to Main Street. This will remain in effect until the end of the parade proceeds onto Main Street. Detour to Chatham Bars Inn will be Old Harbor Road to Highland Ave., to Seaview Street.

The downtown business area (Rotary to Shore Rd) will be closed to ALL motor vehicle traffic at 08:30 a.m.

The intersection of Route 28, Main Street and Crowell Road will be closed at 09:00 a.m., and ALL inbound traffic will be detoured onto Queen Anne Road.

Main Street will reopen when the last parade unit turns north onto Crowell Road.

“NO PARKING” signs, traffic cones and barricades will be placed at various locations along the parade route and surrounding streets. Uniformed Police Officers will be posted to assist with traffic.

Parade route: Main Street @ Shore Road westbound to Main Street @ Crowell Road, parade turns north onto Crowell Road and ends at Tip Cart Drive.

There will be no rain date in the event of weather cancellation.

Traffic is always heavy after this event. We are asking the public, when leaving the event, to NOT FOLLOW DIRECTIONS ON THEIR G.P.S. SYSTEMS. There will be Police Officers available to assist with traffic. You may be directed to a route that is less heavily congested.

Authories are asking for the public’s patience and cooperation during this annual 4th of July parade event.

FALMOUTH: The Falmouth Fireworks Display will be held on July 4, 2017 (Tuesday) beginning at dusk off of Falmouth Heights Beach and lasts about ½ hour. The rain date is July 5, 2017 (Wednesday).

Voted one of the 10 best fireworks displays in the country by Travel and Leisure Magazine! Held each year at the Falmouth Heights beach, this is a classic Cape Cod summer event.

Traffic Restrictions

As in years past, traffic will be restricted from entering the Falmouth Heights area at 6:30 pm. The restriction will stay in effect until the spectators safely leave the area.

Parking Restrictions

A temporary parking ban, including a “tow away zone”, will be implemented on July 4th starting at 5 pm and will stay in effect until the spectators safely leave the area:

  • Grand Avenue (South), between Walden Avenue and Central Park Court, including all metered parking spaces.
  • Worcester Court, between Jericho Path and Grand Avenue (South), including the grass median.

Handicap Parking

Handicap parking is available at Bristol Beach and Surf Beach parking lots.

Traffic Exit Plan

In an attempt to alleviate traffic congestion as a result of the heavy volume created by the annual Fireworks Display, the Falmouth Police Department has devised a traffic plan for vehicles exiting the Falmouth Heights area. Please refer to our Traffic Route Map. All motorists are advised to plan their route in advance.

Alcohol Prohibited

The Falmouth Fireworks Display is a non-alcoholic event, and all laws governing the possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages will be enforced.

Subject to Search

In the interest of public safety, all containers (bags, coolers, etc.) will be subject to random search.

BOURNE: Even though there won’t be a fireworks display in Bourne this holiday, the Minions at the Bourne PD won’t leave you hanging. Tune in tonight, July 3rd, or tomorrow, July 4th, starting around 9PM for a special FB Live of two different fireworks displays celebrating the birthday of our great nation and all that it stands for. However you choose to celebrate this holiday, please do so in a safe and responsible manner. The one place you are guaranteed to not have a view of any of the festivities is from any of our executive suites at the Inn. (police jail cells)

Summary of Massachusetts Fireworks Law

MGL Chapter 148, S. 39

What does the law prohibit? It is illegal for private citizens to use, possess, or sell fireworks in Massachusetts, or to purchase them legally elsewhere and then transport them into the state. The law prohibits any article designed to produce a visible or audible effect.

Sale of fireworks
Penalty: Fine or imprisonment or both, and confiscation
Fine: $100 to $1000
Imprisonment: Maximum of 1 year
Seizure of fireworks: Mandatory

Who can arrest? Any officer qualified to serve criminal process.

Must an officer arrest? No. Statute says the officer MAY arrest without a warrant.

Must an officer seize the fireworks?

Yes, the statute says the officer SHALL seize any fireworks.

Possession, use, cause to explode of fireworks

Penalty: Fine and confiscation only

Fine: $10 to $100

Seizure of fireworks: Mandatory

Who can seize? Any of officer qualified to serve criminal process.

May an officer arrest?
For possession, no. The statute only provides for a fine upon conviction and automatic confiscation of fireworks.

Must an officer seize the fireworks?
Yes, the statute says the officer shall seize any fireworks.

Seizure
Can people get their fireworks back? No. If convicted, the fireworks are forfeited to the state.
