CHATHAM – Mass State Police report that on Saturday August 5th just prior to midnight, Trooper Steve Culver of the K9 Unit overheard Chatham Police Department responding to an incident where a homeowner was chasing two male suspects who stole a television from a neighbor’s residence. Trooper Culver responded and learned officers had already recovered the television and had one suspect in custody. Trooper Culver was shown where the homeowner lost sight of the remaining suspect and K9 Flash was deployed from there. Flash acquired a scent and began tracking down the road. Flash tracked for approximately one-quarter mile before pulling left into a yard. In the yard there was a boat where Flash showed a proximity alert and would not leave. Trooper Culver made K9 commands and a suspect came out of the boat surrendering without incident. He was taken into custody by Chatham PD.
