SANDWICH – The Sandwich Conservation Trust will hold its annual meeting this month, and this year’s event will focus on sharks, seals, and commercial fishing.
Guest speaker Peter Trull will give a presentation on the relationship between commercial fishing, sharks along the northeast coast, and the expanding gray seal population.
The event, called “The Gray Curtain,” will examine the environmental and geologic changes that have resulted in the expansion of marine mammals, population increases, and animal migrations. Trull will focus on how these changes have affected the commercial fishing industry.
Trull has spent forty years researching and studying wildlife and the environment on Cape Cod. He has written six books on Cape Cod natural history and has a seventh in the works. He is a science teacher at the Cape Cod Lighthouse Charter School
The meeting is scheduled for the East Sandwich Grange Hall on Sunday, October 15 at 2 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
The Sandwich Conservation Trust will be accepting donations to help offset the cost of the event.
