HYANNIS – The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod is holding a food drive between November 1st and the 27th. Donations can be made at all 9 of the banks locations.
For the 4th year in a row, they will be collecting nonperishable food items as well as monetary donations.
On the 28th, employees will disperse the proceeds to various food pantries to help restock the shelves for the many Cape Codders who visit the pantries.
“We want to restock the shelves in anticipation for the holidays and long winter months. Money donations are very useful because when the pantries buy food from the Boston Food bank every dollar buys $5 worth of product,” said President and CEO Lisa Oliver
Donations of toiletry and paper goods are also wanted as people on food stamps are not allowed to use them for such products.
Laurie Ray of the Sandwich Food Pantry said items like shampoo, deodorant, disposable razors and shaving cream can be used to bag up and give out at Christmas time.
