YARMOUTH – Town and school officials in Yarmouth and Dennis will meet Wednesday to discuss the future of the Mattacheese Middle School.
The Yarmouth and Dennis finance committees, the Board of Selectmen from both towns, and the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School Committee will take part in the joint meeting, which is planned for 5 p.m. at the Station Avenue Elementary School. A presentation is planned on potential building option for Mattacheese.
The D-Y School District has been accepted by the Massachusetts School Building Authority to look at either renovating or replacing the aging building. A series of public meeting were held recently to get input from the public on how best to move forward.
One proposal would include merging Mattacheese with the Wixon School in Dennis.
Architectural firm Perkins Eastman is working on the project.
