BARNSTABLE – A large power outage was affecting the towns of Barnstable and Sandwich Thursday late afternoon. 1,100 were out in Barnstable with another 300 in Sandwich. The reason for the outage was not immediately known. Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills firefighters responded to 28 Lady Slipper Lane in Marstons Mills after smoke was reported coming out of electrical outlets when the generator came on. Crews used a thermal camera to check for any fire in the wall but did not find anything. By 5 PM the outage had been reduced to about 350 customers in the two towns.
