BREWSTER – Heath Eldredge was sworn in as the new Chief of Police in Brewster on Thursday. Eldredge takes the reins from Chief Richard J. Koch who the department is happy to recognize for his 30 years of service to the police department and the Town of Brewster. Joining the ranks on February 1, 1988 and rising to the rank of Chief of Police on February 1, 2006, it only seems appropriate that his retirement begins on February 1st as well.
During his time with the police department, Chief Koch was the consummate professional, whose influence extended beyond the police station as he was eager to get involved with many town projects. His structured approach helped the department become a certified agency with the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission, while at the same time he made sure the department was more than just policies… that it was truly a community oriented department. Brewster Police all wish him a long, healthy, and enjoyable retirement!
Meanwhile, the department promoted Jonathan O’Leary to Lieutenant to fill Chief Eldredge’s previous position.
