HARWICH – The Harwich Conservation Trust is holding a Herring Count kick-off on the 21st from 3 until 4.
People in attendance can sign up to volunteer for this year’s count which will start on April 1st and end on the 1st of June.
The gathering will provide a look at several years of monitoring data followed by a discussion about the importance of the counts and how volunteers contribute to science. There will then be a scheduling of new volunteers, who will also have the opportunity to have someone with previous experience walk them through the process on-site for their first count.
The event will be held at the Harwich Community center’s Multi-purpose room.
Anyone who cannot attend but would like to volunteer can send an email to [email protected] or call the office Mon-Wed at 508-432-3997.
