YARMOUTH – Law enforcement from across the country and as far away as Dallas and Los Angeles joined with friends and family of fallen Yarmouth Police Sgt. Sean Gannon Wednesday.
Funeral services were held at St. Pius X Church in Yarmouth for the office who was fatally shot last week while serving a warrant in Marstons Mills, allegedly by a career criminal.
As they did on Tuesday for Gannon’s wake, thousands of officers marching down Station Avenue to the church where they stood watch during Mass.
Gannon, 32, was posthumously promoted to Sergeant by Yarmouth Police earlier in the day.

In his eulogy, Father Paul Caron remembered when Gannon welcomed him to Yarmouth last year when he showed up in uniform.
The pastor said God was with Sean when he was fatally shot and sped him in His arms.
Bishop Edgar da Cunha of the Fall River Diocese, who co-celebrated the Mass, said he hoped the memories of Sean’s life and all he did would help his family heal.

Following the Mass, hundreds of K-9 officers from around the country stood at attention on Higgins Crowell Road.
A private burial with family took place after the funeral Mass.
