BOURNE – Bourne Police report that at approximately 11 AM Sunday, Bourne Police officers responded to a motor vehicle crash at the West Rotary. Bourne Fire & Rescue was already on scene requesting MedFlight. Officers arrived on scene and observed a large group of motorcyclists stopped in the rotary. An investigation by officers determined that the group was riding together rounding the West Rotary when a Chopper style motorcycle made contact with the rear end of the motorcycle ahead of him. The 71 year old Plymouth man lost control of his motorcycle and was thrown onto the pavement. He was taken by ambulance to Tobey Hospital in Wareham with a serious injury to his head, loss of consciousness, and other injuries. He was later transported by helicopter to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. Speed does not appear to be a contributing factor to the crash.
