SANDWICH – The call came in Monday evening: Fire through the roof of Amari’s Ristorante on Route 6A in Sandwich. Fortunately the restaruant, which was closed, was not on fire. Firefighters from Sandwich, West Barnstable, Joint Base Cape Cod and other departments came together for a tanker shuttle drill. In areas such as this one, there are no hydrants. Firefighters take their tankers to a hydrant or other body of water nearby, fill up, and shuttle water to tanks set up at a fire scene. The goal of the two hour drill was to move 750 gallons of water a minute.
